Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Then, in 1992 she was appointed Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist and presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award for her work in the defense for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
